Tequila Tour Cuautemoc and Milton were awesome tour guides to show us the history of tequila. It was a bit cheesy at first, but the guys did a great job at staying in character and really making an effort to keep us intrigued. The tasting at the end was fun, they played music and we had a blast. there were only four of us and we had an awesome time. my advice is to just enjoy it, cut loose, enjoy the tastings and buy your favorite bottle, they have GREAT tequila to try, the honey one was our favorite.
Kakaw and The Aviary We visited the Costa Maya port in conjunction with our cruise, and enjoyed the visit tremendously. Our port pass included visits to Kakaw (chocolate museum), The Aviary (suspended adventure course and interactive bird habitat), the Tequila Museum, along with cocktails from the beach bar and use of the expansive pool complex. What a bargain of a package. We particularly enjoyed the bird experience of the aviary. Climbing from habitat to habitat with a complex of rope bridges (very well constructed, and not as scary as it sounds), we were delighted with how friendly and approaching the birds were. Hold onto your seed cups, though — some of our feathered friends are cagey thieves. Kakaw offers an immersive “walk through time” history of chocolate, acres out by a small troupe of young actors. It’s cheeky, campy, and tasty all in one. Kakaw is also a working chocolate shop where you can watch the delicious stuff being made, take sample tastings, and purchase hand/crafted treats to bring home. Between the amply poured cocktails and the sun-soaked pool, we never did make it to the Tequila Museum. Even missing this attraction, the port experience was a fabulous way to pass the day. Loved it!
